Homemaking Haven

Week 2 in the challenge says this:

“Play soft music everyday in your home. Choose worship, Making_Your_Home_a_Haven_Fall_2010classical or another form of peaceful music that the family enjoys. Focus on using peaceful words and maintaining peaceful relationships. Remind your family to avoid seething anger, tattling, criticism or back talk. As the wife/mother, work on gentleness this week.”

So that is what I am going to do. This should be easier for me as I am very drawn to music and it soothes my soul. I think I may download a few songs to the mp3 player so as to free up the computer. A mix of Celtic, worship, and lullabies will do the trick I think.

As for this past week I have struggled but it has been easier to get back on track once I see my candle. I am praying every time I see it. However, I am also cursing it when things are not going well. I hope to change scents this coming week and maybe that will make a bit of difference It’s not as though I dislike the one I have but it is a little too subtle in my opinion.

So here’s to days full of peace ahead!

Starting out slow

We began our first day of school this past Monday and already I have figured out 2 things. I am trying to do to much and my kids are such awesome angels! I really wanted to do our 50 States Under God curriculum but realized quickly it just isn’t going to work. It means I have to buy another book and with hubby losing his enlistment in 2 weeks we just can’t do it.

I contacted Joy Dean from A Helping Hand about using the 50 States Geography with multiple students and she told me their copyright prohibits photocopies even within the family. She did graciously extend me the offer of what I paid for it at the convention back in March. However, I still won’t be able to do it.

I also think it was just trying to add to much. We use My Father’s World and after some prayer about it I think I just need to focus on it this year. I was hoping to be able to do both, but it seems overwhelming now.  My boys have been so great while I tweak and fix this and that. They have not said anything about having so much to do or that I was trying to do it all at break neck speed.

I have been forced to slow down due to some mystery pains. I hope to know more after this weekend and we will be continuing next week with Week 1 continued. I just need a few days to rest. I think I originally knew this when I felt so very unprepared to start on our first day.

I am one of those women with a high tolerance for pain and tend to push through a lot. My children and husband finally wore me down to see a doctor so I did that today with no answers only tests. They are checking for liver or kidney issues but mainly my white blood cell count.  I hope come Monday (or perhaps tomorrow) I will have some good news.

Pray for a quick resolution and full recovery while I wait, please. Especially since I am trying to start fundraising for the JDRF Walk here for my son. I am hoping to raise a few hundred dollars and walk in the mile long with my son and whoever wishes to join us.

Put My Faith In him

I have been thinking about how easy it is to forget all the things God does for me. How those big things I always remember but it’s the little ones that really count and sadly those are the ones I let slip away. I know I maybe crazy but I don’t sweat the big stuff like maybe losing a house or job, I know my God is bigger than that. Yet… why is it I worry about my sleeping children not waking up, or the prowler in the dark that may have the worst in mind. I can quite convince myself that there is something “out there” and work myself up to such a state that there will be no sleep for me that night!

Just a short Hello

I know I have been MIA lately but I have been in so much pain from this prenancy. I hope to rest a lot tomorrow and hopeful be up to more than this. The hubby and I are actually making plans to homeschool the kiddos in the fall and he is getting so very involved with it. I also want to mention that he has expressed some interest in going to seminary. Praise God! This is a man who until the last few years was iffy on whether he even believed. He has expressed interest in going to church as a family and even though these are small steps (I am certainly not pushing, just letting him find his own way)I am so thankful. I continue to pray for God to change our hearts and I am amazed at what He has done.

I have been having such a hard time with this precious gift of being pregnant so I appreciate any tips or reminders. I keep trying to take it all to His feet when it all gets too much. I have been emotional and very much a slacker. I need to be able to get out of bed before 3 pm and stay out. Any ideas on how to stay sane while keeping pelvic pain at bay? I feel like all I do is lie in one place or another and if I do exert any effort it takes at least 3 days of bedrest to recoup. I could really use some prayers girls. I could even use some sample prayers for myself to use in the course of my days.

I think I will try to get to sleep now and do some bible study in the AM.
