Go Trybe ~ TOS Review

HSCrew468x60Animated
I think one of the most difficult things to do as homeschoolers is trying to include P.E. For us there is no choice but to include exercise in our daily routine since my oldest is diabetic. He needs the exercise to manage his blood sugar and stay healthy. Unfortunately he  is usually the only one doing it and even then it is not what it should be.

The chance to review GOTrybe was a true blessing, although at first my kids were reluctant.
I thought the personalized avatars and workouts would be appealing and certainly seeing the fun upbeat instructors and kids would make them want to workout. It seemed they did not care until I figured out we needed to do it in our schoolroom area where there was no video games to be a distraction, and a little more space to move.
After I moved our sessions to the Dungeon (AKA the basement school room) all three kids were totally into it. They loved it and begged to do it, even my 3 y/o.

There are 4 daily components, called Daily Activity, the kids go through to earn points and learn about health and fitness
  • Fitness
  • Motivation
  • Nutrition
  • Wellness
Created to get students in classrooms moving to improve the thinking process and student health GOTrybe uses what is called Active Screen Time  to engage the students in fitness activities. Each Daily Activity session includes a workout video, either customized or preplanned, a fun and informative video, and facts with follow up questions. Each member is grouped into one of three trybes, ZOODOOS, TRYBE180, or NEXTRYBE according to their ages.
My opinion:
Great product, easy to use, and my kids loved it. It’s fun and very affordable but I do have to warn homeschoolers of one thing. The instructors, are mainly women wearing some less than modest attire. I understand these are geared toward regular school classrooms but I did want to mention it. Hey I have boys, we are Christian as are a lot of my blog readers and friends and family and it makes it an issue, will we still use it? Yes, but I do hope talking to my boys about it helps, not to mention maybe GOTrybe will address this issue.
This is a complete online community based on health and fitness and doing it in a fun relaxed way. A forum and blogs for both students and parents make it a great way for parents and kids to connect over tech. The kids can earn badges and connect with friends online and send messages back and forth much like Facebook. They even have an online store with licensed merchandise, shh don’t tell the kids!
