I have been so happy with C-man’s reading ability, from just a year ago he has really taken a shine to reading just about everything. His current favorite series of books is Adventures In Odyssey’s The Imagination Station. We have recently received books 5 and 6 and he again devoured them in no time.
Book 5 Showdown with the Shepherd and Book 6 Problems in Plymouth are the newest books in the series with at least six more titles planned, including book 7, Secret of the Prince’s Tomb, due out in January of 2012 and book 8 in May 2012.
“Written for ages seven and up, the series features the virtual reality device the Imagination Station, which is one of the major plot devices used in the Adventures in
Odyssey audio drama series. Nobody knows the inner workings of the mysterious device, invented by Mr. Whittaker, but with a push of a button, it launches users back in time to experience historical events in-person.
In Showdown with the Shepherd, cousins Patrick and Beth return to the Holy Land in the tenth century BC. Set against the backdrop of the David and Goliath story, the cousins learn that having a giant faith is more important than having a giant on your
side. In Problems in Plymouth, Patrick and Beth’s meet William Bradford, Miles Standish, and Squanto, who are trying to establish peace between the Pilgrims and
the Indians. Things are anything but peaceful, however, when a musket is stolen and the Pilgrims conclude the
Indians are planning war.” From official press release.
We were so excited to get our hands on these, especially Problems in Plymouth because that is right where we are in our history readings with school. I loved how he could pick up a book “just for fun” and it actually tied in with school in such a meaningful way.
