Amazing Animals by Design ~ TOS Review

Good books that teach my young children about our Lord are always a much needed resource at our home. I am just never sure how over their heads my explanations are, plus I can not convey in words what illustrations can in cute, adorable, and beautiful artwork. Fellow TOS Crew member Debra Haagen, created just such a book when she penned Amazing Animals By Design. You can check out her author site, Debra Haagen, to learn more about her.
Geared to children in pre-k through 3rd grade this 24 page book fills the gap that exists in literature that introduces creation. Many times children have questions about God’s creatures and we as parents tend to gloss over those “ But why?” pleas with a simple “God made them that way.” Debra has given us a book filled with these “Why” questions, beautiful illustrations, and scientific yet simple answers to give our children the right start in knowing about God’s design.
My daughter is 3 and loves this book. Her older brothers love reading it to her and I love that it is just what we needed to add to our library. All the wonderful animals God created hold such amazement for children and mine especially enjoyed reading about their unique design. I really appreciated the storyline also, a family of four on an outing to the zoo discovering how the animals are using their specially designed bodies, including us humans. It was something my kids could relate to and envision themselves along on the “fieldtrip”. As home learners this was a great realization for my children that there are books that teach the same way we learn, everywhere and all the time.
We received the e-book which sells for $7.99 but I love the illustrations and since the paperback sells for $8.99 I have bought that also. I can’t wait to get it, you can purchase either version here : Amazing Animals By Design.
