Have you ever wanted to just take some time and just explore what your kids wanted to? As a homeschooler and mother to 3 (2 of which are boys) I love when something catches my children’s eyes, however I don’t always have the time to put together a deeper study. I think I have found the answer. The Curiosity Files by The Old Schoolhouse is a unique look at all the bizarre, weird, strange and just plain gross stuff kids like, especially my boys.
My youngest son has been begging me to do a unit on ants so I was excited when we got Zombie Fire Ants. The unit studies are for kids 8-13 but my oldest joined in just for fun. We really enjoyed reading all about how these creatures got their name and God’s plan for them in the world. I was pleased at the range of activities and how easy they were to work through.
I am not a big unit study fan unless it is all pre-done for me. I have tried a few that were just not well put together, info all over the place, random activities and confusing directions. The Curiosity Files was a complete joy to use. All the info was up front and clear the directions were clear and concise. I honestly felt comfortable printing this one of and letting my kids run wild with it. I have to say it was so well explained that my youngest son, the one who wanted to study ants, said it was too gross because he could, “picture their heads just falling off!” I had to laugh.

We really enjoyed this study and look forward to doing more. My only wish, if anyone was asking, is to have these interactive e-books. I would love to not have to print off the worksheets but have my kids be able to type their answers right into the PDF. I know I am a total geek and just really spoiled by my TOS Planner.
Don’t just take our word for it, check out the other reviews at TOSCrew.
Disclosure: In exchange for my honest opinion I received a digital copy of the above e-book for free. No other compensation was provided.
