GoGoKabongo ~ TOS Review
Do you have one of those kids who really loves video games? Well I do and they will play any kind of video game even if it is educational so I try to limit our video games in our school time because it is always a pain to get the kids back on task. We were recently able to try a early reading website based on video games called GogoKabongo, as soon as I saw it I knew it would be a hit.
With crazy, kooky characters and video game based lessons my DS8 was chomping at the bit. In the made up land of Kabongo your child will meet some pretty out there friends from the three lands of Laughter Lake, Twister Top, and Galaxy Gardens. Each land has a selection of three games to choose from that help children learn the pre-reading skills necessary to be strong readers including letter identification, spatial recognition, matching, and letter blends to name a few. As a reward for your hard work you get to pick from three awards. My son’s favorite award was pieces to his skate park.
You set up an account for your child and then you can keep track of their progress on your parent page. The Parent page is also chock full of informational articles, printable activities, and a list of offline fun to extend the learning. The age range is for children 4-7 but my son is almost 9 and really enjoyed the games and activities. Since we are still in that cementing the knowledge stage of learning phonics and reading skills GoGoKabongo is perfect for us to use to reinforce these skills in a fun way.
Right now at GoGoKabongo the first two habitats are completely free, add the third for only $4.95 for a lifetime subscription. There are more habitats coming in the future.
