Zeezok Publishing ~ TOS Review

HSCrew468x60Animated
If you always wondered how to incorporate great films into your school plans Zeezok Publishing has a wonderful new product out just for you. I personally love seeing a great book transformed into a special memory on the silver screen. I will never forget Dorothy and her trip to Oz or Elizabeth Bennet’s disdain for Mr. Darcy. I love great literature and it thrills me to be able to see those stories played out in front of my eyes. By using the ZGuide To The Movies I can ensure my children can have those same thrills, enabling them to love great literature and wholesome movies at the same time.

As the family of an archeologist BML (before military life) we are huge history buffs, the older the better we like to say.
Getting the chance to use the Jason and the Argonauts ZGuide was wonderful opportunity. I borrowed the movie from Netflix but they also sell it for 15.98. We have watched multiple versions of this movie before and while I always liked to use it for literature/history/culture lessons I never knew quite what to do with it. ZGuide to the rescue, it took all my frustrations away since everything was planned out for me.
Each guide includes a movie synopsis and overview to begin with. After watching the film and completing the comprehension activity questions you are spending 5 days doing various other activities. There is a suggested schedule included but I never felt tied down to it and we stretched this one out some days only doing one activity and other days finishing more than one or two.

My favorite activity my DS15 completed was the recruitment poster for Jason’s crew.

I especially loved how the guides even covered special movie aspects, in our case stop motion animation by Ray Harryhausen, and really helps to delve into the film’s unique portrayal of the literary world created by the original author. It brought home film as an art form for my kids which was music to this drama mama’s ears. Can you tell I was a theatre kid?
There are ZGuides for over 20 films, all currently available on Netflix, each using a specific edition in either CD or E-book version. If you would rather purchase the film those are also available and would really add to your film library as they are all great classics. For the price this is a great add on to your program and your children may just find something they love in the process.
