Growing Healthy Homes ~ TOS Review

I have been looking for some time now for a really good Health curriculum for my son as an elective for high school. I thought I would never find one as it seems there is only 1 or 2 out there that satisfy our need for Godly instruction combined with solid information backed by scientific research.
Well I must have hit the jackpot because I have found Growing Healthy Homes Nutrition 101. I can’t say much about the book format since we received the eBook format but it is a wonderfully illustrated, Bible based, textbook style book that is chock full of all the things my entire family needs to know in order to live a healthy life as God intended.

From the site:
Nutrition 101: Choose Life! is a three-in-one family nutrition and health program for all ages that presents the major body systems, how they function, their common health issues, the benefits of good food and the consequences of bad food. Its 448 pages include into six units:
  1. The Brain and Nervous System
  2. Digestion and Elimination
  3. Respiration and Olfactory
  4. Muscular and Skeletal Systems
  5. Cardiovascular and Immune Systems
  6. Endocrine System and Emotions
Read an excerpt.
Biblically based and packed with hands-on activities, science and art projects and nearly 80 family-friendly recipes, this program teaches and reinforces the why’s of what we should eat, not just “because I said so.” Containing a complete reference guide filled with nutrition facts, charts, practical tips and an exhaustive index, Nutrition 101: Choose Life! will serve as a constant resource for improved health and abundant living.
Each Unit is broken down into 4 chapters that includes activities, recipes, discussion questions, additional resources, answer key, and an amazing, useful Appendix section.
I would prefer that the Units chapters not be renumbered 1 – 4 with each unit but progress forward until the end of the book but that is just my personal preference as I won’t use it from page 1 straight through but jump around as we go.
I would love to see a complete health curriculum come from this company. Nutrition is great but I want my children to have the knowledge for complete health including sexual health and that is just hard to find.
The Digital Format comes on CD and sells for $79.95
Bound Book Format $99.95
A package deal that includes both formats is available for $129.95
Disclaimer: As a TOS Crew member I was given a free digital copy of this book to review in exchange for my honest opinion.
